Bash came over caffeine and chats last night ([livejournal.com profile] nadyalec gifted me with a pot for making Turkish Coffee, and I am kinda obsessed with it. All of you must visit and let me make you twitch-making goodness!) and we went on a wander by the lake. Along the way we stopped by the monstrosity that is the vulva cathedral (Concept art image, photo) and poked into a door propped open on the side (the security guard was reading by the main entrance, school kids were inside rehearsing vocals). While I find the outside to resemble a broken reactor cooling tower atop a cold-war bunker, I think the inside is stunningly beautiful. And, unsurprisingly, the acoustics are amazing.

I am really not sure why the Obama campaign still seems to have representatives in Bay Area. Even before the DNC the number of "Hope" and "O" signs far out numbered any other nominee hopeful's; now Obama imagery is practically omni-present.

When General Lafayette returned to the US for a visit in 1824, he was confronted with his name or image not only on banners, but on vases, plates, sashes, and on even women's gloves. While gloves are out of style and t-shirts and hats are expected, I have seen an Obama belt buckle and lots of DIY Obama-themed bracelets. I am half-expecting to see someone sporting an Obama-grill one of these days.

All and all, this is far preferable to my world being filled with McCain shwag... but still.
