So there I was stuck in traffic listening to music, singing along with a song that was somehow evocative of a story while being just a set of random imagery. (Like so much of the music I have rocked out to... funny that). This led to the musing of what story could encompass such a random set of angst-ridden imagery, which of course led to the idea of reverse filking. Take a non-thematic song, and create a sci-fi or fantasy story that fits. The shorter the better.

Second full day at the colo and I am already learning lifechanging new things:

Sweetened condensed milk can be found in squeeze bottle form!

It is good to know that I can maintain an exciting life even while insufficiently employed.

jetkat and I are entering the Grilled Cheese Invitational (I am not sure if our application has been accepted or not, but this is no reason not to practice grilled cheese making. :} )

Also, the burning art group I work with has a piece going to Coachella, and I am going with as part of crew. Sweetness!

Now I just need to find a real job so that I can afford little things like rent between adventures. :}

I love the phrase "tyranny of the majority".

I am thinking, should I have Monday off... of heading out to the beach to fly kites. Probably along the coast just south of Pacifica.

Anyone interested?

Today's lesson: having an off-color IM conversation with a lover while writing web documentation for work really requires that the documentation be proof read before posting.

Oddly enough I don't have the related problem of send misfires while having simultaneous text conversations with folks who really shouldn't be mixed up.

At UCSC there is a tradition known as First Rain. Upon the first rainfall of the season followers of this tradition streak across their college campus in celebration. It should be noted that streaking, in this case, includes everything from mad dashes to leisurely meanders with occasional breaks to play frisbee. While charmingly sophomoric in that collegiate sort of way, it is unfortunate that most of the practitioners are neo-hippies. For many of them this is the first encounter their bodies have had with water in days and the moisture just aggravates their natural... redolence.

My issues with the hygienic values of the practitioners aside, I appreciated the idea of joyously acknowledging the first rain of the season. While running naked through my neighborhood would clearly be detrimental to my continued good health (and possibly my lifespan), I do want to give nod to my delight:

With this in mind, and much mirth and laughter I wish you all a wonderful First Rain.

I think avar1c3 and I make a hilarious pair for public outings. We end up with the dark sister/dork sister thing going on. The Kill Hannah Show, fer instance, was great fun despite "meh" music*. Really, the two of us surrounded by underage emo kids? The snark must flow!

In other news, the amusing and amazingly good stuff in my life continues (actually, I would say it is even getting better... Awesome with awesome sauce!). While, sadly the hot-tubs and stompy dancing incidents have dropped in frequency, the steamy shower scenes and food bliss** moments are on the rise. Burns, scrapes,and other related injuries are holding steady.

*Only one of the three opening bands was okay, and I think Kill Hannah itself is better on YouTube. A bit more emo-pop than my normal tastes... the only song of theirs I was really into (YouTubage)

**It is heirloom tomato season. And apricot season. Hmmmm... nectarines.
