In progress:
This is taken from
iridium, but I am keeping a calender book and jotting a few words or sentences summing up the day every day.
Todo:
Name change.
Acquire passport.
Books read:
The City and The City - China MiƩville: Not my favorite of his works, but I liked some of the ponders it provoked.
American Born Chinese - Gene Luen Yang: A quick read and it really resonates with some of the tales I have head from friends who grew up Asian in America.
Matter - Iain M. Banks: I think this is first Culture novel I have read in which there is direct discussion of ethical issues involving utopian civilizations existing next to dysutopian/impoverished civilizations. A very tasty read.
Storm from the Shadows - David Weber: Space opera candy. Not my favorite of the series.
Though not books, some of the excessive number of web-comics I binged on are close. From beginning to current on these:
Girl Genius - Cute fluff.
FreakAngels - Warren Ellis is brilliant.
Khaos Komix - While there is some level of high-school trite-ness, I was deeply moved by this series of portrayals of queer and gender-queer characters.
Lovecraft is Missing - Lovecraftian tastiness
Phoenix Requiem - Victorian fantasy. Beautiful, engaging, and well written.
Red Moon Rising - Still early in the plot, but I love the style and am already engaged with the characters.
Gunnerkrigg Court - Simultaneously charming and dark.
A Girl and her Fed - Inane but somehow engaging.
Goblins - meh. I am not enough of a D&D dork to find this great.
