...which is good, given than my neighborhood was close to ground zero for some violent protests.

I am glad I missed it, but I am kinda pissed that it is happening now:

All you folks protesting, I have finally watched the video. It was brutal and really looked absolutely unnecessary. No, it should not have happened, and no it should not be treated lightly.

But I have to question: where has all your outrage been for every other homicide? Why the fuck aren't any other of the young black men killed last year or who will be killed this year worth your action? If you really care about some poor black kid's life, what are you doing to prevent another one from being shot? Not just by a police officer but by some other poor black kid...

"I feel like the night is going great," said Nia Sykes, 24, of San Francisco, one of the demonstrators. "I feel like Oakland should make some noise. This is how we need to fight back. It's for the murder of a black male."

Sykes, who is black, had little sympathy for the owner of Creative African Braids.

"She should be glad she just lost her business and not her life," Sykes said. She added that she did have one worry for the night: "I just hope nobody gets shot or killed."

Dear Ms. Sykes:

Um, do you know how many black males (and a few females) were murdered in Oakland last year?

What the fuck were you thinking? Your (and your fellow protesters) behavior now looks callow and hypocritical. Totally pointless and arbitrary.

This senseless destroying of a mostly black neighborhood really reads as "Black folk in Oakland are wild, violent, and unpredictable. Is it a wonder the cops are trigger itchy?"

Grow up and do something better for your community than rioting.

-really pissed off that you all attacked my neighbors.
