I want to write a post about being sick.
No, that is not true, mostly the internal 5 year old just really wants to share with everyone the gross-ness that is the yellow mucus my eye is making.
The external grown up is befuddled at how a sore throat (which isn't strep, so says Kaiser) spread to her eye. The ear-ache makes sense as the Eustachian Tube is one of the few things I remember from some childhood anatomy class.
Though only two days of the goopy eye, it has been a full week for the sore throat and both the internal 5 year old and the external grown up are ready to be done with the salt gargles, medicine head, excessive naps, and general isolation.

My inner 5 yr old / adult loves hearing about this stuff. Is it better now? what if it was non-strep, but bacterial, and you innoculated your frickin eye? ew/awesome! (ewsome?)
*hugs from afar*

FWIW, I'm fairly sure there are also connections between the eye and the nasal sinuses, just not with fancy well-known names. Also, sore throat -> bugs on hands -> touching eyes would do it. (Says someone who got conjunctivitis twice one spring, both times alongside a nasty sinusitis. That was not a fun spring.)

Not all that helpful, I think... sorry!
